Effective October 1, 2009, a person who purchases precious metals from the public, other than by an exempted transaction (as defined in the stautes) must have a permit issued to them by a local law enforcement agency. Section 2 of Session Law 2009 - 482 provides detailed information as to the required permits and application process.
As of December 1, 1995, certain residents of North Carolina may be eligible to obtain a permit which would allow them to carry a concealed handgun under certain conditions. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-415.11 No other weapons may be carried concealed pursuant to such permit. The following information will be needed to complete the Concealed Carry Permit Application Process:
Under North Carolina General Statutes, the Sheriff of each county is directed to issue weapon permits to qualifying residents of his county, and to non-residents of the county who are collectors. Applications for permits will be accepted Monday through Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, excluding state holidays. All applications must be completed at the Sheriff's Office in the presence of an officer or the Pistol Permit Clerk. ......
