Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that on April 7, 2010 Sheriff’s Deputies along with personnel from the Guilford County Animal Shelter and officers from Guilford County Animal Control served a search warrant on the premises of 6324 Maple Wood Street in Pleasant Garden, NC.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that the body found off of Thurston Rd in Greensboro on March 24, 2010 has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as that of Retha Crook Simpson of 3205 Stonypointe Drive, Greensboro, N.C. The Medical Examiner’s office advised the official report would be completed by next week.

Sheriff BJ Barnes invites the media to the kickoff spring sale for the beginning of the growing season and just in time for the Easter holiday. On Thursday, some of the best plants produced in Guilford County will go on sale.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for Keith Lamont Wall of 107-C Meadowpark Ct. in connection with the home invasion at 1325 Ritters Lake Road. The warrants are for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, 1st degree Kidnapping, and 1st Degree Burglary.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Greensboro Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the found body located on March 24, 2010 off of Thurston Rd. Winfred Scott Simpson has been arrested for First Degree Murder and is currently confined in the Guilford County Jail with no bond.

On this date, the FBI contacted the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office requesting the case files of an investigation into the complaint of an assault on Robert Christopher Parks. Said assault occurred while Mr. Parks was incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail. This incident occurred on Feb. 22, 2010 and was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Professional Standards Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
