Sheriff B J Barnes with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday, October 25 at 2220 hours a Robbery and Kidnapping occurred at 5110 Watlington Road, Greensboro. The suspects, four black males, knocked on the door of 5110 Watlington Road, shortly after 10:00 PM asking for one of the residents by name. Once the door was opened they forced their way into the residence at which time they tied the victims up and ransacked the house. The victim that they ask for by name was assaulted during the robbery, her injuries were non-life threatening. The suspects took property from the home and left in an unknown direction of travel. The victims advised that they did not see a vehicle and do not know the suspects.

 With the projected hiring of Detention Officers for the new jail expected to start in summer of 2011, now is the time for those interested to step forward.  The Sheriff’s Office is seeking Detention Officer applicants now, so that all background checks may be completed before hiring begins.  The salary, benefits, and time off are excellent, and training is provided.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that on 10/21/2010, deputies served search warrants on storage facilities on High Point Road, Greensboro and in Siler City in reference to the trailer thefts from J.L. Rothrock Company, 3111 Southbrook Dr, Greensboro, NC. The theft occurred sometime between 10/2/2010 and 10/4/2010 in a storage lot located at 4521 S Holden Rd, Greensboro, NC where two trailers and two storage containers were stolen that contained items that were being transported to the Polo distribution center in Greensboro, NC.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that on October 21, 2010 the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Arrested Thomas Lee Elliott, 798 Butler Island Rd, Roseboro, NC 28382 for Solicitation of a Child by Computer to Commit an Unlawful Sex Act and Attempted Indecent Liberties with a Minor.

Sheriff B J Barnes with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, October 22, a 13 year old Juvenile student was found to be in possession of two handguns while on the campus of Northern Guilford Middle School located at 616 Simpson-Calhoun Road. Greensboro, NC. One handgun was loaded and the second was unloaded. Eleven rounds of ammunition were also seized during the investigation.
