County Farm Plant Sale
Wednesday, 31 March 2010 14:50
It’s April 1st, April Fool’s Day, but the only fools will be those who miss these great plants going on sale at the County Farm. Sheriff BJ Barnes invites the media to the kickoff spring sale for the beginning of the growing season and just in time for the Easter holiday. On Thursday, some of the best plants produced in Guilford County will go on sale.
We have garden vegetables (15 different varieties of tomatos), we have flowering plants of all varieties, we have concrete and wooden garden products such as birdhouses, picnic benches, stepping stones, garden bridges and trellises. All items are at great prices and all are grown or made by prisoners learning skills and producing product. The sales from the farm go back into the county coffers as revenue to help reduce the cost to the taxpayer. Sheriff BJ Barnes states “we always sell out, these inmates do a great job and learn skills in the process. It’s a win-win for everyone. I hope everyone will come out to see what we have to offer.” The green houses are in bloom, the plants are healthy, colorful and a bargain. We hope everyone will come out and join us for what will be a great kickoff for your spring planting. There will be great visual for the camera crews and an opportunity to tour the greenhouses.
