Yellow Dot

Yellow Dot was created to assist people during automobile accidents or at home, when they might not be able to communicate for themselves.
Yellow Dot started in Connecticut in 2002. It was adopted in Alabama, where it was developed and promoted further. Other states began inquiring, and then USA Today publicized the program in May 2011. National interest surged. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 40 million people in the USA are 65 and over, 13% of the population, and that 32 million of them have driver’s licenses. Yellow Dot is not just for senior citizens, however more and more younger drivers are realizing that anyone can be injured in an accident or have a medical emergency.
Guilford County is one of the first areas in North Carolina to adopt the “Yellow Dot Program”. According to Sheriff BJ Barnes, “This may be the smartest thing you ever do. When it comes to protecting your family, nothing is simpler, cheaper, or more effective at helping us save your life than Yellow Dot. If you are ever involved in a serious wreck, or even have a medical emergency while in your car or at home, you’ll be glad you did.”
