World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk
World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk
Sheriff BJ Barnes serves as the Honorary Chairperson for the Piedmont Triads 1st Annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk and invites everyone to attend this event at Triad Park at 9652 East Mountain St., Kernersville, NC. The park is located at the Forsyth/Guilford Co. line on what is W. Market St. in Guilford Co. and becomes E. Mountain St. in Forsyth County. The park is one of the best kept secrets in Guilford and Forsyth Counties and provides a beautiful area to hold this inaugural walk.
Sheriff Barnes and the many corporate partners in the community are holding this walk to bring attention to the tragedy of elder abuse. “It is a shame and disgrace when our seasoned citizens are abused on any level and it happens daily. Our seniors are abused emotionally, physically and financially. With this walk, we hope to bring attention to the fact that as leaders in the community, we need to take a stand against elder abuse.
I hope everyone will join us on Saturday, June 16th at 8:00 a.m. for registration and 9:00 a.m. to walk to stand up for our seniors.”
