Guilford County youth curious about a career in law enforcement are experiencing an intense week at GTCC. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Youth Academy is in its
third day of teaching subjects condensed from the training curriculum for law enforcement officers.

This academy aims to stimulate a positive interest in law enforcement in youth, as well as heighten awareness of the positive aspects of being a good citizen. Young people will learn the functioning of a modern law enforcement agency, requirements of a career in law enforcement, and advantages of Explorer post membership. Sheriff Barnes states “This is a great learning experience for these young folks to see that a law enforcement officer wears many hats and has many responsibilities. It will be an eye opener for them, I’m sure.”
